Full Moon Ceremony

Merriam-Webster defines ceremony as “a formal act or series of acts prescribed by ritual, protocol, or convention”. I invite you to join me to celebrate the magnificent power of our moon and use her energy to create balance and movement in our lives.

The moon’s gravitational pull on the earth is strongest when the moon is fully illuminated by the sun. Full moons (and new moons) represent new beginnings, and we can use their influence to step out of our comfort zone and move forward to new territory; or they can help us reflect on personal issues that burden us and keep us stagnant or spinning in one place.

Participating in ceremony gives us a powerful space from which we can focus to gain perspective, shed illusions, and be authentic. Regardless of where we live or what religion we follow, the moon is an omnipresent force in in our lives. She brings us together, we are all familiar with her presence. Celebrating together with like-minded individuals provides us with a space of love and encouragement from which to grow and evolve.

All mature adults and teens who have a desire to better themselves through honest self-examination and spirituality are welcome. I ask, as a courtesy to others, that you refrain from wearing personal fragrance to any of my events. Minors must be accompanied by an adult unless otherwise authorized with Julie prior to the event.

In the days leading up to ceremony, begin considering what you are “full” of; and write down what you are grateful for and what you want to let go of on separate pieces of paper. Bring them with you to ceremony. (I will provide a small window of time, and supplies, for those who are unable to do this beforehand.) Once we’ve all got our papers together, we will go into Zentopia where we will have a cleansing ritual with sage leaves, and call in the powers of the four directions. Then we will light a sacred fire. One at a time, we will read what we are comfortable sharing from our papers and then feed them to the fire. There will not be pressure to share, you may silently put it in and that’s OK. We will hold space for our loved ones and those who could not join us, then close by passing love around the circle. Once back inside we can spend the rest of the evening having refreshment, enjoying discussion or study, and using the massage equipment.

Wear comfortable clothes for indoors and outdoors, what that is depends greatly on the weather and your personal preference. This is a casual event, and there is no need to dress up. I say “come as you are”, and be prepared to spend at least 30 minutes outside. There are covered areas, and heaters in the winter, but you will be exposed to whatever elements Mother Nature is giving us at the time. Wear or bring clean socks if you plan to use the massage equipment after the event.

As a courtesy to others, I ask that you arrive on time. From 6:30-6:45 we will have a chance to mingle, get a snack, and have a seat. From 6:45-7 we will have a reading about the moon, and introductions. From 7-7:30 we will be outside having our fire ceremony. Then, from 7:30-8:30/9:00 we can spend time outside, or inside as you prefer, for more conversation and snacking.

This event takes place in my home, and is a community service, so I didn't used to ask for money. Due to internet scammers, and no-shows, I now ask a $5 registration fee. This helps insure that the limited seats are not snatched up by those who will not attend, and are available for those who will.

If you’d like to help out or contribute to this event, feel free to come a little early to set up, bring snacks to share, or stick around afterwards to help clean up. None of those things is expected or required, your participation is enough. Please let me know ahead of time if you will be coming early.

There will be an opportunity to smoke, and my home is 420-friendly, outside after the ceremony.
